Immediate Recall of Pourable Gel Fuel Due to Burns and Flash Fires
Consumer Product Safety Commission Press Release
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a press release notifying consumers of the recall of pourable gel fuel manufactured by nine companies.
The recall was issued as a result of flash fires and burns related to their products. The flash fires and burns occurred when the user poured additional gel into an already burning flame causing the gel pot to explode and splatter onto people standing nearby.
Consumers did not know that the flame was still burning since it was not clearly visible and added additional fuel gel to the already burning gel pots.
The companies involved in the recall include:
- Napa Home & Garden of Duluth, Georgia
- Bird Brain Inc. of Ypsilanti, Michigan
- Bond Manufacturing of Antioch, California
- Sunjel Company (2 Burn Inc.) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin
- Fuel Barons Inc. of Lake Tahoe, Nevada
- Lamplight Farms Inc. of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin
- Luminosities Inc. (Windflame) of St. Paul, Minnesota;
- Pacific Décor Ltd. of Woodinwille, Washington
- Real Flame of Racine, Wisconsin
- Smart Solar Inc. of Oldsmar, Florida
Consumers who purchased these products between 2008 and the present should immediately cease using the product and contact the manufacturer for a refund. These products were sold since 2008 in both scented and non-scented formulations.
