Drug Recall Lawyers
Have you or a loved one been injured, or has a loved one died as a result of an overdose of Propafenone HCl, Isosorbide Mononitrate Extended Release, Morphine Sulfate Immediate and Extended Release, Dextroamphetamine Sulfate?
If so, you may have a claim for money damages.
Medical giant Ethex Corporation in conjunction with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a recall on the following medications:
- Propafenone HCl Tablets 150 mg, 225 mg, and 300 mg
- Isosorbide Mononitrate Extended Release Tablets 30 mg and 60 mg
- Morphine Sulfate Extended Release Tablets 15 mg
- Morphine Sulfate Immediate Release Tablets 15 mg and 30 mg
- Dextroamphetamine Sulfate Tablets 10 mg
The reason for the recall was that some of the packages contained oversize tablets that may contain as much as twice the intended level of active ingredients. Ingestion of these oversized tablets may result in dangerous side effects, including arrhythmias, low blood pressure, respiratory distress, rapid heart rate, and even death. According the recall, these generic medications were shipped prior to May 22, 2008.
If you believe you purchased this generic medication, you may visit the FDA website at http://www.fda.gov/medwatch/safety/2008/safety08.htm#Ethex.
If you or a loved one has sustained injuries, or if a loved one has died from an overdose of these generic medications, you may be able to recover money damages.
It is very important that you keep the unused medication, instructions, labeling and packaging so that a proper investigation can be performed relating to your claim. This is because a laboratory must analyze the drug and test it for its active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and for its strength and purity. The three most common tests are gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, and microbiological tests. These tests show the presence of any contaminants and/or bacteria that may be present in the drug. In addition, the evidence must be preserved to prove that the drug you or your family member ingested was part of the contaminated lot. The lot number is on the drugs label and/or packaging.
